How the RNR is produced
A few people have asked me what process and equipment I use to produce the Richmond News Review, so I thought I would share some of that in case it's useful to others.

As I've put together the show each week, it's been on my mind that podcasting as a phenomenon (at least so far) has largely been about covering topics with very broad appeal. Or at least, topics that might find potential interested listeners scattered across the country and the globe - music, global events, television shows, movies, etc. I think this is partly because podcasters thrive on knowing that their material can reach people they've never met, people far away from them in geography and perhaps even in background and lifestyle. So it's natural to wonder whether a podcast like the Richmond News Review that is mainly tied to some geographical locality can survive on different forms of support and encouragement. Is there enough interest (local or anywhere) in having a show that's focused on local news and opinion to justify its existence?
Whew - this site got some attention today. I hadn't really intended to promote it widely quite yet, but one thing leads to another. Evan posted a note in the Pal-Item forum (and though Evan works with me, he was not asked or paid to do so) and that brought some visitors. The Apple iTunes Music store has listed RNR in its podcast directory, so that's exciting. Podcast Alley, another podcast directory, also now has an entry for RNR - vote for us there if you enjoy the show. And I got some additional listener feedback, which I really do appreciate. Thanks, all!
Welcome to the Richmond News Review: a podcast highlighting news and opinion being published in print and online throughout the week in and around Richmond and Wayne County. I'm your host, Chris Hardie.
I'm excited about this podcast as one form of a new kind of alternative media appearing in our community. I hope that it's a contribution to a larger trend toward citizen-journalism that balances and complements our existing sources of news and opinion.
This website will be the base of operations for RNR - it will be updated at least every time there is a new episode, and I also hope to post various thoughts about the production of the show (since I believe it's the first of its kind in our area) and other tidbits of news and notes throughout the week.
Thanks for tuning in. If you have comments or suggestions, please feel free to post them here, or send them to letters@richmondnewsreview.com.
