How to Listen

Episodes of the Richmond News Review are distributed in the MP3 format, and can be played on any software or hardware that supports that format. You do not need an iPod to listen to the show.

To view a list of available episodes, just click on the "Episodes" category on the left. Each episode has its own posting with a description of that show and various methods for listening to it, including an in-browser Flash player (popup or regular) or direct downloading. If your web browser doesn't display the Flash audio player, click on the Download link to use another media player of your choice.

You can also subscribe to the show in the iTunes Music Store: click on the iTunes link on the left to launch iTunes, or go to the iTunes Music Store and search for "Richmond News Review."

If you have your own newsreader/headline reader that supports audio enclosures, just point it to this RSS feed.

Live Broadcasts

Once in a while, we'll do a live broadcast of the show with call-in participation from listeners.  You can view information about upcoming live shows, and participate when we're on the air, using the information in the TalkShoe widget at right.

You can call in to the live broadcasts using a couple of different methods:

  • Phone: Dial (724) 444-7444 and enter call ID 27821#
  • Click on the link in the widget to the right that says something like "Join In Now" (available up to 15 minutes before the show begins), and then use the web-based ShoePhone program (requires mic and headphones/speakers on your computer)
  • VOIP: Connect via SIP to 123@66.212.134.192 and enter call ID 27821#

When asked for your PIN, just press 1# (or, if you're using the interactive TalkShoe chat window in your browser, enter the PIN indicated there so your call can be connected to your chat room name).

You can call in / join the chat up to 15 mintues before the start of the show.  Calls will usually be taken in the order received.

You'll be able to listen to the show once it begins from that widget too, and you'll also be able stream the show to the audio player of your choice (e.g. iTunes) by clicking on the "Trouble Hearing?" link that will appear.

If things go well, we'll also post the recording of the shows as new episodes on the RNR website.
